PHOTOS: Budapest’s City Park Ice Rink chosen one of the world’s best
Budapest is popular among the foreign tourists for its famous baths, historic buildings, the magnificent Buda Castle and the Heroes’ Square and, of course, the great variety of pubs, restaurants and clubs where you can spend your evenings and nights and enjoy the Central European atmosphere in the heart of the continent. Furthermore, there are Budapest’s popular ice rinks, one of them chosen the world’s best outdoors ice skating rink.
The Travel made a list of the world’s best outdoor ice skating rinks recently on which Budapest’s City Park Ice Rink holds a prestigious position. The success is even bigger if we consider that the Hungarian capital competed with cities like New York, London or Toronto.
According to the magazine, the Ice Skating Rink of Budapest’s City Park was chosen the world’s eighth best, preceding Montreal (Canada) and London’s Somerset House.
Below you may read what they wrote about the Hungarian ice rink:
“Often considered the largest and one of the oldest ice skating rinks in Europe, this rink in Budapest promises visitors an exciting ice skating adventure and lots of winter scenery. The rink was built in 1926, and it covers a 12,000-square-meter area which is used for different activities such as boating during summer. During winter, people run to this huge rink to glide and enjoy some impressive views of the city of Budapest. Skating equipment are available for hire at the rink, and there are restaurants nearby for some quick bites.”
